The passage of time is one of those annoyingly fluid experiences. No sooner do you feel you have a grasp on it, that you realise it's zooming along regardless. I've been over in San Antonio for a month already, and I've hardly noticed the time go by.
I put this down to being remarkably busier than the last time I was here. There is so much more to do: Several film shoots on the go; meeting many new and interesting folk; preparing for the Horrific Film Fest at the end of the month; and lots of manly labour to get The Darkness' workshop up to scratch. In doing the latter I've discovered hitherto unimagined levels of practicality and resourcefulness: I've actually found I'm good with household tools, which is a definite indication that I'm growing up! It helps encourage the interesting local fauna to move along too.
The new workshop has become a second home for me. A month ago it was a little bit rough-and-ready, but through the efforts of the team we're making it into a respectable working environment. This is borne out of necessity due to a few big contracts coming along. Organisation will be key over the next few weeks, so everyone is pulling together to do the best they can to ensure smooth running. To that end, I've more or less accepted responsibility for the website. Once again I fail to escape my geeky past, but I figure I'm best placed to do a good job with it while the others do their thing.
Film shoot at the weekend. Several nights out planned.
It's a hard life.
