Not long now until I'm jetting over the Atlantic again. Heading to San Antonio once more via Atlanta, courtesy of those nice people at Delta Air. They earn my brand loyalty through the simple reason that their schedule leaves plenty of time to catch the connecting flight. Simple, but essential.
I feel curiously subdued this time round. Definitely still excited, but a lot calmer with it. I figure all the problems I had getting over last time have prepared me for anything, so I'm relaxed and ready to take it as it comes. I just have to remind myself to never take any of this for granted. It's an amazing opportunity, with some amazing people, and thus guaranteed to be one heck of a ride! As befits the busy Summer season, there'll be plenty for me to do with The Darkness - even if it's just reminding them to blog more often!
I'll be incommunicado once the plane takes off until I can scrounge some Internet connectivity in the US. This time I've planned ahead and got my phone unlocked; so once I obtain a decent data micro-SIM there'll be plenty of timely updates hitting the blog and the sidebar. Mostly the sidebar.
During my travels, I'll be playing around with several location-based services. One of the more intriguing is Foodspotting, which has a deliciously simple concept. Users post pictures of their meals with attached geolocation data; allowing others to find and rate specific meal recommendations in the nearby area. That site alone will compel me to put on all the weight I finally lost from my last excursion. Willpower be damned!
Fun times ahead, although I'm sure I've underestimated just how hot it's going to be.
